A Checklist for Buying Used Equipment in India
Decide what you actually need
Write down the job the equipment must do, the capacity you need, the power supply you have and the space available. A machine that is slightly too large or needs a different power setup can cost more to fit than it saved. Having these numbers ready also helps you filter listings quickly.
Read the listing closely
Check the make, model, year and stated condition. Note what is included and what is not. If important facts are missing, message the seller on OLM360 and ask. A seller who answers clearly and quickly is usually easier to deal with later.
Ask questions in writing
Useful questions include how long the seller has owned it, what it was used for, when it was last serviced, why it is being sold and whether there are known faults. Written answers give you something to compare against what you see at inspection.
Inspect in person
Whenever possible, visit and see the equipment running. Look for leaks, rust, unusual noise, loose parts and signs of repair. Check the nameplate and compare it with the listing. If you are not confident judging it, bring someone who knows that type of equipment.
Check papers and ownership
Ask for any invoices, manuals and service records the seller has. Confirm that the person selling is the owner or is authorised to sell. For anything that needs registration or licences, check the requirements with the relevant authority yourself.
Agree the terms before paying
Confirm the final price, what is included, who arranges transport and when handover happens. Write these down in a message or a simple note both sides keep. Be careful about paying large advances before you have seen the item.
Plan for installation and running costs
Think about transport, loading, installation, consumables and spare parts. Ask whether tooling, cables or software licences come with the equipment. These extras can change the real cost of a deal.
Take your time
A good deal rarely disappears in an hour. If a seller presses you to decide immediately, slow down. You can save listings to a wishlist on OLM360, compare several options and come back to the best ones.
